Common Name Hartweg's Aa [German Orchid Collector in Mexico 1800's]
Flower Size .15" [3 mm]
Found in Venezuela, Colombia and Ecuador at elevations of 2700 to 4100 meters as a large sized, cold growing terrestrial with basal, narrowly lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the clasping, subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a lateral, erect, glabrous, cylindrical, densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate, acute floral bracts.
CAUTION The second set of photos above are suspect, they are similar to Aa hartwegii but it has not been cited from Peru so please use with caution Dunsterville & Garays drawing is absolutely correct!
