Found in Arequipe and Tacna departments of Peru and Arica, Parinacota, Tarapacá and Antofagasta regions of Chile in wetlands at elevations of 3100 to 4900 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial that blooms in the late winter through later spring on an erect, lateral, 1.2" [3 cm] long, covered by broad hyaline sheaths, rachis thick, conic,.56" [1.4 cm] long, to 21 flowered inflorescence with ovate to oblong, acute, margin entire, , as long as to a bit shorter than the flower floral bracts and carrying small, white hylaine with green flowqers.
