Common Name The Fimbriate Acacallis

Found in Brazil, Guyana, Surinam, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations around 100 to 260 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with a long-creeping rhizome giving rise to distant, slender, fusiform, ellipsoid-cylindric pseudobulbs enveloped by elongate, membraneaceous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, plicate, 5 to 7 nerved, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, sharply acute to acuminate, cuneate below into the channeled, petiolate base leaf that blooms on a basal, lateral, lax, to 11" [to 22.5 cm] long, loosely 2 to 9 flowered inflorescence.
