Common Name Curtis' Acanthophippium [English Orchid Collector in Indonesia 1800's]

Flower Size

Found in Sarawak Borneo at elevations aorund 900 to 1000 meters as a medium sized, warm growing terresttrial without elevational data with ovoid to fusiform, 4 to 6 noded pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, broadly lanceolate to elliptic, 5 to 7 prominent veined beneath, acute, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on a lateral, arising from the lower node of a new growth, peduncle to 6" [15 cm] long, provided with 2 to 3 sterile bracts, rachis 2" [5 cm] long, to 6 flowered inflorescence with cymbiform, pale purple, foliaceous, ovate-lanceolate, acute floral bracts and carrying fleshypale creamy pink base flowers with the tepals abaxially striped with red along the veins, adaxially spotted with red in the basal half and strongly blotched to completely red in the apical 1/4, a white column and a yellow lip with dark red markings.
