Found in Hebei, Shanxi, Qinghai and W Sichuan China on grassy or shrubby slopes at elevations of 3200 to 4100 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a short, underground rhizome giving rise to a single, basal, oblong-spathulate, sometimes spotted dark brown, distinctly tapering below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, glabrous, 6" [15 cm] long, racemose, 1 to 6 flowered inflorescence
