Found in Penninsular Malaysia on trees overhanging rivers in clumps of Platycerium ferns at elevations of sealevel to 150 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot growing epiphyte with grooved, narrowly ovate, clustered pseudobulbs, the newest with a scarious basal sheath and carrying a single, apical, narrow, linear leaf to 12" [30 cm] long [A liliifolia has 2 apical leaves to 8" [20 cm] long] and another of equal size arising from a leaf bearing sheath and blooms in the late winter on a basal, to 16" [40 cm] tall inflorescence with to 12 , stiffly spreading, 3" [7.5 cm] alternately placed branches carrying several flowers each.
