Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations of 1000 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a very short rhizome giving rise to an elongate, slightly compressed, laxly leafy stem carrying erect-patent, linear, acute, unequallyly bidentate, narrowing below into the base leaves that blooms in the earlier winter on a terminal, elongate, to 7.2" [18 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence

Schlechter states that the flowers are snow white.
