Found in the New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu in montane forests at elevations of 1400 to 3040 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with compressed leaf stems completely enveloped by very long leaf bearing sheaths carrying erect, narrowly linear, acutely bilobulate or bicuspidate apically leaves and blooms in the winter, spring or fall on a capitate, many flowered, each inflorescence short, single flowered enveloped by several acuminate bracts.
