Found in Thailand, Borneo, Java, Malaysia, Sumatra, New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu in lowland, hill and montane forest at elevations of 200 to 1500 meters as a large to giant sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with a flattened stem that widens towards the apes and carrying many, linear, smaller from the base larger towards the apex, basally clasping, obtuse leaves that blooms on a terminal, many, short, crowded branched inflorescence arising on a mature growth and forming a head each carrying several small flowers
