Found in New Guinea in montane forests at elevations of 1000 meters as a large sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to somewhat compressed, erect, strict, densely leafy stems completely enveloped by very long leaf bearing sheaths carrying erect, linear-ligulate, unequally bicuspidate apically leaves that blooms in the winter on a capitate, somewhat incurved, several to many flowered inflorescence.

Schlechter states that the flowers are pure white.
