Found in Peru at elevations around 3850 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with 4 to 5, basally clustered, oblong-ellitic, more or less acute, narrowing below intothe broad sheathing base leaves that blooms on an erect, rachis to 4.2" [10.5 cm] long, enveloped completely by several, loose, imbricating sheaths, thickly cylinric, densely many flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute to acuminate, sparingly ciliate, shorter than the flower floral bracts.
