Found in Shaanxi, southern Gansu, western Sichuan, northwestern Yunnan and southeastern Xizang China in thickets, grasslands and rocky meadows at elevations of 2300 to 4100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ovoid tubers giving rise to an erect, slender, stem carrying a single, ovate, spathulate to narrowly elliptic leaf held below the middle that blooms in the summer on a terminal, erect, single flowered, ebracteate inflorescence with a linear-lanceolate, usually longer than the ovary, acute floral bract
