Found in Guizhou, Qinghai and Shaanxi China in alpine forests and damp alpine grasslands at elevations of 1600 to 3900 meters as a mini-miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a globose tuber giving rise to an erect, slender stem with 2 tubular sheaths at the base and carrying a single, narrowly elliptic to oblong-spathulate, obtuse leaf that blooms on an erect, 1 to 3.6" [2.5 to 9 cm] long, 6 to 20 flowered inflorescence
