Found in central Madagascar in mossy forests at elevations around 1800 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte or lithophyte with a rigid, compressed stem enveloped by compressed, carinate sheaths carrying 5 to 10, apical, distichous, rigid, coriaceopus, slightly arched, linear, obtuse, basally contracted, unequally lobed apically leaves that blooms in the summer on a short, .16 to .32" [4 to 8 mm] long, from the upper leaves, single flowered inflorescence
