A deciduous, miniature to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial found in Assam India, Bangladesh, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China in semi-deciduous and deciduous dry lowland forests and savana-like woodlands at elevations of 1000 to 2500 meters with partially partly buried, ovoid pseudobulbs carrying 1 to 5, deciduous, stalked, narrowly lanceolate leaves that blooms in the later summer and fall on an erect, basal, slender, to 18" [45 cm] long, 1 branched or simple, rather dense apically, racemose inflorescence with 10 to 12 flowers that do not open well.
