Found in New Zealand in deep moss and shade of montane-subalpine mossy scrub as a miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a hairy stem carrying 2, basal, unequal in size leaves that blooms in the late spring and early summer on an erect, to 6" [to 15 cm] long, usually single flowered inflorescence
