Found in New Guinea in primary forests on trees at elevations around 200 meters as an erect to patent, giant sized, hot growing epiphyte with spreading to erect, simple stems carrying basally clasping, erect, ligulate-oblong, obliqely apiculate, glabrous leaves that blooms in the winter on a lateral, erect to suberect, densely many flowered inflorescence with open, ovate-lanceolate, apiculate floral bracts.
