Found in northern Sumatra at elevations around 400 meters as a small to medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with erect, slender, slightly flattened, leafy stems carrying oblong, obtuse, unequally bilobed leaves that blooms in the summer on usually unbranched but sometimes with just one or 2 branches, slender, enveloped by clasping sheaths, to 5.6" [14 cm] long, rachis .6" [1.5 cm] long, close set, 10 to 15 flowered inflorescence with small, oblong floral bracts that are shorter than the ovary.

Schlechter states that this orchid is similar to C cristata but this one has smaller leaves and flowers, the mentum is longer and the rostellum is much longer.
