Found in New Guinea at elevations around 800 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with a very short rhizome giving rise to simple, terete, glabrous, strict to substrict, leafy stems, enveloped completely by tightly clasping leaf bearing sheaths and carrying subpatent, oblong, obtuse, rounded with an apicule, shiny, leaves that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a lateral, short, to .8" [2 cm] long, densely 10 to 15 flowered inflorescence with reflexed, oblong, apiculate, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
Schlechter states that the flowers are greenish with white sepals and petals.
