Found in west and south Sumatra in montane forest at elevations of 1100 to 1700 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with close set, non-branching, terete stems carrying basally twisted, oblong-ovate, shortly bilobed with a small spike in between leaves that blooms on a terminal and axillary, very short almost sessile, rachis .4" [1 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with reflexed, ovate-oblong, concave floral bracts.
J J Smith stated that the flowers are red and comber states that the specimen at kew also had reddish leaves and stems.
