Found in Borneo, Sulawesi and the Philippines in montane hill forest hanging down from tree crowns or scrambling over limestone rocks at elevations of 300 to 1200 meters as a large to giant sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with an elongate, seldom branching stem in shade and a shorter frequently branching stem in full sun that blooms in the winter on an axillary, short, erect inflorescence carrying 3 to 5 fleshy flowers
