Common Name The Confused Microchilus

Found in Meta department of Colombia, Amazonas state of Venezuela, Guyana and Ecuador at elevations around 300 to 1100 meters as a medium sized, hot to warm growing terrestrial orchid with a decumbent, becoming erect stem enveloped mostly by 2 to 4, close, tubular, evanescent sheaths, carrying above the middle, 4 to 6, erect to erect spreading, oblong-elliptic, coriaceous, acute, minutely tridenticulate apex, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later summer on 1 to 2, terminal, suberect, 3 to 6" [7.5 to 15 cm] long, subdensely to densely several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, longly acuminate, concave, sparsely ciliate floral bracts.
"This species semms to be allied to the Brazilian M commelinoides but differs in its narrower leaves, and much smaller flowers with a differently proportioned lip. In vegetative appearance it suggests M foliosa but the perianth is very different." C Schweinfurth 1951
