Found in Colombia, Venezuela and Guyana at elevations of 900 to 1200 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing terrestrial with a decumbent then erect stem carrying ovate-ellip-tic, to elliptic-lanceolate, longly acuminate, attenuate below into the channeled, petiolate base leaves that blooms on a terminal, erect, peduncle glabrous, enveloped by various ovate-lanceolate, acute to acuminate bracts, rachis, spicate, 6.8 to 9.6" [17 to 24 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with oblong-ovate, acute to subacuminate, concave, shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
