Found in south central and south eastern Madagascar in montane scrub and grassland moss and lichen rich forests or rock crevasses at elevations around 1800 to 2600 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a single, basal, oblong leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a spicate, terminal, erect, 3.2 to 6" [8 to 15 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence
