Common Name The Caparao' Bifrenaria [A mountain in Minas Gerais]

Flower Size

Often cited as a synonym of B atropurpurea, I leave it separate here. Most likely the correct name is B atropurpurea var caparaoensis; Found in Minas Gerais on the Serro do Caparao' at higher elevations around 2000 meters and blooms in the spring. The difference is mainly in the larger plant, psuedobulbs, leaves and flowers, the interior of the column and lip are puberlous, and the lip does not have any yellow.
