Common Name Garcia-Barriga's Bletia [Colombia Original collector of species 1913 to 2005]

Flower Size

Found in Tolima department of Colombia at elevations around 700 meters as a medium sized [in bloom], warm growing terrestrial without vegetative parts. that blooms in the later summer on an erect, to 24" [60 cm] long, branching or simple, laxly several flowered inflorescence with triangular-ovate, subacute, much shorter than the pedicellate ovary floral bracts and carrying rather small flowers.

"Differs from all others collected in Colombia by the long clawed lip, deeply constricted near the middle, with a relatively obscure callus consisting of 4 elevated keels in the lip center only and almost suborbicular lip middle lobe." Szlachetko & Kolanowska 2023
