Common Name Burkart's Brachystele [Uruguayan Botanist late 1800's early 1900's]

Found in Misiones department of Argentina at elevations under 400 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with thin, cylindrical roots giving rise to an erect, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long stem enveloped by several, margins lightly ciliate, decreasing in size upwards, cauline sheathing bracts that blooms without leaves, in the winter on an erect, rachis 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, few flowered inflorescence with as long as the ovary floral bracts and carrying red-orange flowers.
