Found in French Guinea, Guyana, Surinam, northern Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet forests at elevations of 50 to 500 meters as a medium to large sized, hot growing terrestrial with ovoid, longitudinally rugose with age pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, plicate, thin, lanceolate, acute, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on 1 to several, erect, basal, thick, 9" [22.5 cm] long, densely several flowered, racemose inflorescence.
