Found in Cameroon, Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Cape Province, Natal, Swaziland, Transvaal and Madagascar in grasslands in full sun at elevations of sea level to 2500 meters as a small to medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrials with 2 to 3 [5], narrowly lanceolate leaves that blooms in the summer through early fall on an erect, cylindrical, densely 20 to 60 flowered inflorescence.
