Found in Southeast Asia and New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations of 400 to 600 meters as a small sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte that needs a slight winter rest and is very similar to and part of the B lobbii complex and cited as a synonym of by several authorities but differs in the backswept petals and drooping dorsal sepal.
