Found in Sulawesi, the Moluccas and New Guinea on trees in mossy montane forests at elevations around 1200 to 1900 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome giving rise to ovoid pseudobulbs every .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm], carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptic to narrowly elliptic-ligulate, subacute, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall and winter on a erect, rigid, 8" [20 cm] long, successively single, few flowered inflorescence with a few bracts and has a compressed, apiculate, much shorter than the ovary floral bract
