Found in Sabah Borneo in wet podzolic forests at elevations around 400 meters as a mini-miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with a rather short creeping rhizome with .32 to .6" [.8 to 1.5 cm] between each, distinct, ellipsoid, dorsoventrally flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, rounded, more or less sessile base leaf that blooms on a usually single, peduncle .2" .5 cm] long, rachis .7 to .75" [1.75 to 1.8 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, acuminate, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying wide open flowers..

"Similar to B meson, from Thailand. but B anthae differs in having distinctly larger flowers, more inconspicuous lateral lobes along the margin of the lip, as well as broadly rounded wings along the lower margins of the stelidia." Vermeulen & Lamb 1994
