Found in Papua and New Guinea, The Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and Samoa on large rainforest trees overhanging rivers, streams and ocean at elevations of sealevel to 800 meters with a single apical, narrowly lanceolate, apiculate, thick, fleshy leaf on a subconical to cylindrical, somewhat quadrangular pseudobulb and blooms in the summer through fall although it is possible at any time on a very short [1 cm], single flowered [rarely 2] descending inflorescence that holds the not wide opening, thick, fleshy, diurnal, 1 to 2 flowers against the psuedobulb. Best grown on a mount with frequent waterings, given moderate shade and high humidity.
