Found in Kalimantan Borneo in primary forests at elevations around 1400 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with a short creeping rhizome giving rise to ovoid, flattened pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, obtuse, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a basal, erect, thin, 1" [2.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence .
This species has been cited as a synonym of B schefferii by several authors but it can be separated by the shape of the stellida and the protruding proximal edge of the stigma.
