Common Name Blume's Bulbophyllum [German Director of Botanical Garden In Indonesia early to mid 1800's]

Flower Size 2 1/4" [6 cm]

A small sized, hot to warm growing, unifoliate epiphytic orchid that is found inat altitudes of 50 to 800 meters in coastal forests and rainforests on trunks and large branches of trees and grows into large clumps with 3/4" to 2" [ 2 to 5 cm] between each, narrowly conical pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, elliptic leaf that blooms in the spring to fall on a basal, erect, 6" [15 cm] long, 1 to 2 flowered inflorescence holding the flowers at leaf length.

This species and B masdevalliceum are quite similar in most all respects except in details of the narrower glabrous lip in this species. Compare with this photo of B masdevaliceum
