Bulbophyllum brachygnomon J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel 2018 SECTION Brachypus Schlechter 1913? [tentatively put here along with B gunteri, P pterodon and B trutiniferum as these straddle the boundary of this section and section Polymeres]

Common Name The Short Stelida Bulbophyllum
Flower Size .4" [1 cm] wide
Found in Papua New Guinea without locational and elevational data as a mini-miniature sized epiphyte with .16" to .36" [.4 to .9 cm] between each distinct, clustered, erect, ovoid pseudobulb with age wrinkling along numerous longitudinal lines and carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic to obovate, acute to acuminate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on 1 to a fascile of a few, basal, peduncle .28" to .88" [.7 to 2.2 cm] long, provided with 2 scales, 1.6 to 2.4" [4 to 6 cm] long overall, single flowered inflorescence with much shorter than the the ovary floral bracts.
Similar to B variculosum which has narrowly triangular stellida with a long acuminate to spathulate apex B brachygnomon differs in the deltoid stellida of the column with a rounded to minutely acuminate apex.
