Found in Toamasina in northern Madagascar in wet montane forests at elevations of 600 to 1000 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with a rhizome with slightly swollen nodes, giving rise to green, orbicular to elliptic, with .2 to .28" [5 to 7 mm] between each pseudobulb carrying 2, apical, green elliptic, acute, acuminate, thin, very soft, sessile base leaf, that blooms in the spring on an erect, peduncle not swollen, setaceous, provided with 2 to 3 tubular, caudate, membraneous sheaths, .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with triangularmembraneouys,, slightly keeled, acuminate, base broadly atttached, longer than the ovary floral bracts carrying a resupinate apically drooping from the pedicel flower

Uniqine in SECTION Lichenophylax Schlechter 1924 with the densely long-ciliate petals and the ciliate, glabrous lip without a median callus.
