Found in New Guinea at elevations around 1000 meters as a warm to cool growing epiphyte with close set, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, obliquely ligulate, acute cuneate below leaf that blooms in the winter on a short, few bracted, single flowered inflorescnece.

Schlechter states that the flowers are dark carmine red.
