Found in Mexico on the southern Pacific slope around 1400 to 1600 meters in forest with poor soils as a small to medium sized, cool growing lithophyte and occasional epiphyte with ovoid, yellow pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical narrowly lanceolate-oblong, stiff, erect, mostly apiculate, conduplicate below into the base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a basal, erect, 8 to 10" [20 to 25 cm] long, stiff, many flowered inflorescence with 10 to 12, scarious, distant, acute bracts and spreading, boat-shaped, ovate, acute floral bracts.
