Found in Malaysia, Java, Sumatra and Borneo in mossy lower montane forests in deep shade at elevations of 1000 to 2500 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with close set, oblong-ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped by tubular sheaths and carrying asingle, apical, erect, thick, elliptic, obtuse, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring through fall on a basal, erect, 4 to 12" [10 to 30 cm] long, 20 to 120 flowered inflorescence carrying the flowers in a nodding cylindrical, densely flowered, bottle-brush shaped rachis.
