Common Name The Hanging Down Bulbophyllum

Found in New Guinea in forests on trees at elevations around 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with cylindrical,approximate pseudobulbs that arise from near the apex of the last pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate-ligulate, acute leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, short, single flowered inflorescence.
CAUTION!!! The photo above is suspect, the type drawing is absolutely correct. Schlechter states that the flowers are violet with blackish violet petals and the lip in white towards the apex.
