Flower Size
Found in Cameroon in Mount Cameroon National Park, in montane forest edges at elevations of 1500 to 2200 meters as a cool to cold growing epiphyte with .02 to .8" [5 to 2 cm] between each erect, ovoid, ellipsoid to conic-ovoid, obtuse, 4 angled, greeen, drying yellow pseudobulbs and carrying 2 apical, divergent, ligulate to oblong-ligulate, rotund apically marginate, slightly narrowing below leaves that blooms in the spring on a basal, racemose, erect, peduncle to 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, thin, terete, 7 to rarely 30 flowered inflorescence with ovate to lanceoalte, acute, slightly longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying patent, non-resupinate, white to pale whitish-rose flowers.
"This interesting species has the largest flowers in the genus but is otherwise very typical in its general features. The labellum is remarkable in that the recurved middle lobe, which in most species is very small and tooth-like, is here expanded into a large, almost oprbicular structure adnate as usual to the lower surface of the labelum. The wings of the column are also different in shape from others in the genus that I have seen, being scarcely produced at all above the androclinium, but instead having a large deltoid-shaped projection on each side of the stigmatic cavity." Summerhayes 1957
