Flower Size

Found in New Guinea on trees in forests at elevations around 1300 meters as a medium to large sized, cool growing epiphyte with distant, oblong, inequally compressed pseudbulbs carrying a single, apical, patent, ovate to ovate-elliptic, acuminate, subcordate, thin, reticulate-nerved leaf that blooms in the late winter and spring on a fasiculate, few bracted, 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with cucullate, apiculate bracts.

Schlechter states that this species is much thicker than B djamuense and has wider, larger leaves, larger flowers with wider petals and a different lip.
