Found in New Guinea and the Bismark Archipelago in forests at elevations around 1300 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with close set, ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate-elliptic, acute to acuminate, more or less narrowly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the latefall on a basal, thin, filiform, to 4.8" [to 12 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with ovate-cucullate, apiculate, glabrous, much shorter than the slender pedicellate ovary floral bracts and carrying a suberect flower

Schlechter states that the flowers are yellow with red longitudinal veins on the inside and the petals and lip are spotted with light red.
