Common Name The Purple Hair Bulbophyllum [refers to the appendages of the lip]

Found in Sabah Borneo in montane forests among mosses and lichens at elevations around 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with a creeping rhizome with .12 to .2" [.3 to .5 cm] between each ovoid to ellipsoid, flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic, medium to dark green, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a .4" [1 cm] long overall, peduncle .16" [.4 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying almost entirely bright red flowers with basally somewhat yellow sepals .
