Common Name The Sailyard Bulbophyllum [refers to the appendages of the lip]
Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]
Found in Myanmar, Java, Sumatra, Borneo and the Moluccas in lowland and open podozol forests at elevations around 400 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with a hanging rhizome with .6" [1.5 cm] between each ovoid, somewhat flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, thick, elliptic, medium green, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter, late spring and early summer on an erect, .72" [1.8 cm] long overall, peduncle .34" [.35 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying non-fragrant flowers with yellowish sepals suffused with red purple or purplish brown near the base, white petals, whitish appendages very finely spotted with purple, and an entirely dark purple or green lip with very dark purple blotches that is abaxially white near the base.
