Found in New Guinea in forests at elevations around 1800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with close set, ovoid pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, lanceolate-elliptic, acute to slightly acuminate, narrowly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a basal, filiform, glabrous, 1.4 to 2.4" [3.5 to 6 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with ovate-cucullate, apiculate, glabrous, much shorter than the slender pedicellate ovary floral bracts.
Schlechter states that the flowers are yellowish on the outside and densely spotted red brown within.
