Found in New Guinea in lower montane forests on tree trunks at elevations around 700 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with subglobose, obscurely 4 angled pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical,oblong to elliptic-ligulate, acute to subacuminate leaf that blooms in the late fall and early winter on a very short, single flowered inflorescence with very small, much shorter than the ovary floral bract.
Schlechter states that this one is the only one in the section without split petals and the flowers are yellow thickly dotted red especially on the inside.
