Found in western New Guinea at elevationss around 2900 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with the new rhizome shoot from the basal node of the pseudobulb, rhizome scales thin, leaving parts of the rhizome bare, rather long persistent and giving rise to distinct, c. 1" [2.5 cm] apart, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, elliptic to ovate, apex acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a single or few together from nodes along the rhizome, 1.16" to 1.32" [2.9 to 3.3 cm] long overall, peduncle .36 to .44" [0.9 to 1.1 cm] long, provided with 3 scales, single flowered inflorescence with shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
