Found in eastern Zaire in lower montane forests at elevations around 1400 meters as a mini-miniature to miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with an elongate rhizome with 5.4 to 6.4" [13.5 to 16 cm] between each very narrowly ellipsoid to obovoid, slightly flattened, sharply 4 angled pseudobulb carrying 2, apical, oblong to broadly lanceolate, obtuse apically, emarginate, slightly oblique, coriaceous, thick, midrib slightly prominent abaxially, shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on an erect to patent, peduncle slightly swollen towards the apex, 1.4 to 2" [3.5 to 5 cm] long, glabrous, with 5 to 7 tubular, acute, membraneous bracts, rachis erect, slightly swollen, slightly flattened, 4 angled in cross-section, with 2 concave sides from which the flowers arise, slightly zig zag bent apically, 1.6 to 4" [4 to 10 cm] long, many open simultaneously, secund 6 to 8 flowered inflorescence that is 3.4 to 5.8" [8.5 to 14.5 cm] long overall, with spreading, concave, triangular, membraneous floral bracts and carrying distichous, red flowers that do not open well.
